Athletics at Southwestern College play a significant role in the development of our student-athletes. We believe sports are a powerful tool to teach and develop leadership skills and Godly character. Our performance is for an audience of one—Jesus Christ, and the ultimate goal of Southwestern College Athletics is to glorify God in all we do, both on and off the court.

We define winning as the total release of all that you are toward becoming like Jesus Christ in each situation, and losing is not releasing our entire selves toward becoming like Jesus Christ in each situation. (Romans 8:29, definition adapted from Wes Neal) The following athletic paraphrase describes our attitude toward athletics:

"Conduct yourself in word and action the same way Jesus Christ would conduct Himself (Colossians 3:17). Do whatever you do with the total release of your mental and physical abilities, as well as your emotional energies, towards performing like Jesus. Have in mind that He is your only audience" (Colossians 3:23-24).

Southwestern College is member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), West Region. NCCAA Division II members are not permitted to offer athletic scholarships, but other financial assistance is available.
